Public Transport Terminal Breda
In 2013, construction started on this new train station. The new train station will become an eyecatcher in the already well-established centre of Breda. WIth an length of 300 meters and an appealing architercture, the region around this building undergoes a metamorphosis.
Bartels acquired the contract in the end of 2011. BIM forms the basis for the construction in collaboration with Ballast Nedam - Hurks.
Bartels build the entire design from the ground up in 3D, this minimalized errors and made the design transparent. The design is valuable for the contractors planning and the amount of materials required. Bartels designs in aee what you get' type of fashion. Usually, a constructor only draws the shape of the flooring. However, this construction requires to have the concrete casting to be sequenced and the material requirements have to be spot on. This means extra designing voor Bartels, but eventually gives a major advantage in preperation of construction. Moreover, this way of designing causes to spot errors early on in development, which reduces cost of error during construction.
The contractor also uses this 3D model in order to draw up a planning and an estimation of materials required. The entire façade and outerlayer is drawn in this 3D model, primarily because this building will have a special façade. By doing this, the constructor is ensured to have the proper engineering elements to his disposal, along with the assurance it all fits.
When looking at the new cooperation agreements, BIM is a vital link in this cooperation. Building lean, sustainability and other aspects all come together when working with BIM.
