Korona Kielce Mall
On 16 May of this year, after 21 months of construction work, The Korona Kielce Shopping Centre, located in ul. Warszawska, has been opened.
The architectural design of the Kielce mall was created at Bose International Planning & Architecture, where according to the assumptions of the architects the mall was supposed to integrate with the architecture of the city centre, without, however, losing its unique character. The fasade - an openwork screen - surrounding the building resembles a crown, the symbol of the city, and the mall owes this screen its astounding appearance. It attracts the attention even more with its colour which appears after sunset from behind perforated panels.
"I received an invitation to the official opening of The Korona Kielce Gallery” - said Jerzy Kolbusz, director of Bartels’ Poznań branch and a co-author of the building’s design. “The edifice is really impressive. It is large, spacious, and at the same time its scale is not overwhelming. Its layout is logical and transparent, friendly both to customers and those who trade and offer services at the mall. The awareness of having added one’s own “small brick” to its creation is a source of real satisfaction."
Bartels delivered the building permit and tender design of the structure and supervised the implementation of the working design. Adjusting the simplicity and economical solutions of the building to the architectural concept containing many difficult elements proved a considerable challenge indeed. An additional obstacle were the soil conditions at the building site, requiring the application of specialist foundation technologies.
The total floorage space of the mall is 93,000 m2. Approximately 37,000 m2 of retail space contains over 150 retail and service outlets, cafes and restaurants located on four levels. The lowest levels are occupied by a fitness club and cinemas, and a spacious food court has been situated on the top floor of the mall. Another three levels, including the roof, are used as a car park for 1,000 cars.
The investor is Church Land Development, and the value of the project is estimated at approximately EUR 100 million.
