A mountain in the Netherlands?
Yes indeed! A mountain. With the possible location of the mountain in the background, Bartels and the University of Eindhoven presented a mathematical feasibility research in Bergen aan Zee.
The report was handed to the inventor of the Dutch mountain, ex-pro cyclist Thijs Zonneveld.
In february 2012, a international group of mathematicians worked on mathematical problems about the Dutch mountain. Bartels supervised the group and the problems. The mathematicians were professors and PhD students form several universities, like the TU Eindhoven, University of Leiden, University of Bath and the Middle East Technical University.
The mathematicians answered questions like: where should the mountain be built, how can you built such a structure and how do you sustain the mountain?
